Wisconsin taxpayers will pay $13 million for union protests — so far

Nice. Unions are willing to waste a lot of taxpayer money so that they can keep forcing taxpayers to support far left groups like ACORN, GLSEN, and Planned Parenthood and bribe politicians to pick their own pockets. But, as the saying goes, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. Especially such a big, greasy, ponderous, corpulent omelet — the variety always whipped up in exclusive transactions meetings where only union leaders, politicians, and taxpayer money (but not the taxpayers themselves) are invited.

But then there's no limit to the lengths some people will go when they're only wasting other people's money. In this case, an estimated $3.2 million for law enforcement, $5.5 million in security costs (which is expected to increase) and $7.5 million to repair damages.

Peter Boehmke at American Thinker commented:

For a state which is already running a deep deficit due to the reckless spending of the Doyle Administration, the additional costs created by the public sector union protesters during their fight to retain their favored place at the public trough is adding insult to injury.

Maybe if Mr. Obama had been serious about the new era of civil discourse in politics, instead of encouraging his union supporters by choosing sides against the taxpayers and dispatching his Organizing for America operatives to whip up the mob, the people of Wisconsin may have been spared most (if not all) of this expense.
