Rosie O’Donnell defends Helen Thomas’ anti-semitic rant

Rosie O’Donnell is well known for accusing President Bush of mass murder on the basis of this moronic premise about the collapse of the twin towers on 9/11: “I do believe that it’s the first time in history that fire has ever melted steel.”

Now she is excusing newly-retired White House correspondant Helen Thomas’ ignorant and anti-semitic rant on the false premise that Israel is a mob of itinerants squatters who have no legal right to the land they live on. O’Donnell even said that Thomas’ push for a new Jewish diaspora to Europe did not rise to the level of hate speech, since Hitler’s ovens are no longer in operation in Germany and Poland.

Why won’t these loudmouths take even ten or fifteen minutes to educate themselves before they open their pie holes and embarrass themselves like this?

In the ealy forties, Helen Thomas and Rosie O’Donnell would have handed out towels at Auschwitz…

I imagine you probably didn’t actually listen to her show, or even a clip of it, you just believed something you were told by someone, right? Well I listen to Rosie’s show every day, and what she said was not a defense of the comments. What she said was that we have free speech in this country, and a woman who served the American public for 50 years shouldn’t be forced into a shameful retirement because of quotes taken out of context. By the way, did you know that just before the sound byte that was published Ms. Thomas spent 10 minutes talking to the Rabi and his son about how the son wanted to become a journalist? She gave him advice about how to accomplish his dreams. Sounds like a real Anti-Semite to me…
